What Can a Browser Test?
Modern browsers can access a useful but limited set of device information. Depending on your browser and operating system, PCtesti may be able to measure or detect keyboard input, mouse clicks, microphone levels, webcam operation, screen refresh behavior, WebGL graphics information, logical CPU cores, browser performance and network response times.
PCtesti only uses information that the browser can actually access. If a hardware value cannot be read reliably, we do not present it as if it had been directly measured.
What Can PCtesti Not Read?
A website does not have unrestricted access to your computer. Standard browser APIs cannot directly read many system-level values such as CPU temperature, GPU temperature, disk S.M.A.R.T. health, complete Windows driver information, every running process or the files stored on your computer.
When a check requires information that a browser cannot provide, PCtesti explains that limitation instead of generating a false hardware result.
How Does the Diagnostic System Work?
Several PCtesti tools go beyond showing a raw number. They also interpret the measurement and provide possible explanations. For example, a microphone test may detect that no usable signal is reaching the browser and suggest checking the selected input device, mute status or microphone level.
These results are intended as troubleshooting guidance rather than a guaranteed hardware diagnosis. Physical faults may still require inspection with dedicated software or professional testing equipment.
Are the Tests Private?
Privacy is an important part of PCtesti. Device tests are designed to process sensitive input locally in the browser whenever possible. Microphone audio, webcam video, detailed mouse movement paths and the content of your keyboard input are not uploaded as recordings for the purpose of running these tests.
When a microphone or camera test finishes, the related media stream is stopped. Your browser remains in control of device permissions, and you can revoke those permissions at any time through your browser settings.
Why Does the Browser Ask for Permission?
Browsers protect access to sensitive devices such as microphones and cameras. A website cannot normally activate them without your permission. If you start a microphone or webcam test, your browser will therefore ask you to approve access before the test can begin.
The permission is required only for the feature being tested. If you do not grant permission, that particular device test cannot access the necessary input.
How Does the Game Compatibility Test Work?
